Haiti Update - March 9

On February 27, 2010 Randy and Kim returned safely to Haiti. The Adoration Christian Centre (ACC) team in Haiti worked hard during Randy’s absence, distributing food and ministering to the student’s families.

Upon returning, we determined that there was still a need for food distribution, and therefore we will continue to focus on food distribution, evaluating the needs on a monthly basis. We were able to set up an account with a wholesale food distributor in Port au Prince (PAP), where we can buy most of the necessary food at wholesale prices. The ACC team remains busy separating the sacks of food into bags and then into boxes. A weekly routine has been established, and Lord willing we will distribute food every Wednesday morning. Our plan is to provide them with enough to feed their family for one week. At each food distribution, we continue to minister to the families that we serve. Each distribution time begins with a short time of worship; we sing, share scripture and pray together. It is a blessing to connect with the students and their families each week and enjoy a time of fellowship with them.

As time moves on, several aspects of life in Haiti are returning to ‘normal’ once again. Electricity is being provided in several neighbourhoods and many stores that didn’t collapse have re-opened. One of the large grocery stores is open and has a wide selection of food supplies. However, there are many aspects of Haiti that continue to be affected by the quake. Schools have not yet opened in PAP, as most school buildings have been destroyed and there have been conflicting messages from the Government about the official re-opening of schools. Streets have been cleared of rubble for the most part, but there remains evidence of the earthquake everywhere you look.

We are thankful, that although the world moves on, God has not forgotten Haiti. He continues to heal wounded hearts and minds and surrounds His people with His love and care. We see evidence of this on a daily basis. We as an organization feel God’s blessings and strive to please Him through the work that we do.

We continue to make plans for a temporary location for the church, school and medical clinic. Things are slowly coming together and we trust the Lord to lead and guide us through this process. We continue to covet your prayers and thank you for all the prayer we continue to receive.
